What are your rights as an employee? What do you do if you receive a product that doesn’t work? What advice should you give to a friend who wants to try a new diet pill? What can you do personally to address global warming? Should you take that offer for a credit card when you turn 18? LifeSmarts helps you answer these and other questions through a fun, game-show competition format.
As a teenager, you represent a $2 Billion consumer market in the United States. With so many products and services targeted directly for you, it’s important that you are on top of your game as a consumer, employee, and citizen.
Competitions are fun and exciting, but there is so much more to the program. You will meet new friends and have an opportunity to travel to different parts of our state and country, and meet important business, government, consumer and labor leaders.
But, don’t take our word for it … read about one of our former LifeSmarts State Champion’s experience:
From Matthew Irving
December 2007
Throughout high school I was an honors student and took as many honors courses as possible. As a result, I missed out on what are called “business classes,” which contain critical knowledge for everyday financial life decisions.
LifeSmarts helps students in all paths to learn valuable information for life. I am proud to be able to say that I not only participated in LifeSmarts as a competitor, but also as an Assistant Coach.
My life has been greatly enriched by participating in LifeSmarts and have become a wiser consumer.
